British Columbia Bed and Breakfasts and B&Bs operate out of, either, a private home, a lodge or an inn. There are however, some exceptions.

Some B.C. B&Bs are located near the core of the community close to services while others are located on the outskirts of the town in remote areas surrounded by wilderness.

Most British Columbia B&Bs operating from a home include a minimum of 2 Guest Suites. The suites may include a private entrance, private ensuite, internet, television, phone, daily room cleaning service and/or a self contained kitchen.

Be aware that in some BC B&Bs common areas are shared with the Hosts while others have designated private common sitting areas for guests.

Most B&Bs serve breakfast, but not all, so ask. Some provide the basics like a muffin and coffee while others cook up a full meal deal. There are even some BC Bed and Breakfasts who stock your fridge and leave the cooking up to you.

British Columbia B&Bs vary greatly in room size, privacy, comfort, quality and price. (always ask price if this is important to you). British Columbia Bed and Breakfast accommodations generally have higher rates in the peak seasons (May to September) and offer package deals in the off seasons with discounted rates. The exception to the rule are the mountain resort B&Bs on ski hills. These alpine B&Bs tend to be busy in the winter seasons also.

Larger B&Bs with multiple rooms and more services are considered B&B Inns with extras. Some of the extras onsite may include a restaurant, a common breakfast area, a lobby, spas, gyms, pools, hot tubs and recreation packages. Many B&B Inns enjoy easy access to community services and amenities.
