Some of the more remote National and Provincial Parks also include wilderness campsites which permit tenting only. These campsites include, maybe, a tent pad, pit toilet and food cache. All require backpacking into the wilderness to access.
The private campgrounds in British Columbia vary the most in price and quality. Some of them are located in the communities close to all the services while others are more remote close to nature. Most private campgrounds permit RVs, campers and tents.
Many private campgrounds are very well maintained but there are some in need of some love. Services vary per campground like showers, washrooms, laundry room, pool, power, sani station, flush toilets, internet, phone, television, boat launch, playground and firewood.
There are designated backcountry campsites in British Columbia called Forestry Recreation Sites. Many are free of charge and provide only pit toilets and picnic tables. Some are accessed via rough gravel roads. Others can only be reached by backpack, kayak, boat, floatplane or canoe. It is important to pack out what you pack in at these forestry sites as they are self maintained. Please do not litter. It is so uncool.
It is recommended
to make reservations at all Provincial and National Park Campgrounds
through BC Parks, especially through peak season from May
- October.
