Types of RV Parks and Campgrounds
in BC, Canada
(always
ask about Campground Accommodations... as all Campsites
are not created equal)
There are many
different types of Campgrounds located
throughout BC. There are national, provincial, municipal,
community and private Campgrounds located in the communities
and throughout the backcountry forests of BC, Canada.
There are campgrounds
permitting both RVs and tents while some permit just RVs
or just tenting. Parks permitting RVs usually have many
amenities onsite like power, cable, internet and water.
Many of the parks are located near an ocean, lake or river.
Some are in communities close to many amenities. Pick your
preference.
There are two
types of tenting campgrounds - drive in campsites and hike
in campsites (wilderness campgrounds).
There are many
designated backcountry campsites available in many of the
Provincial and National Parks found along long backpacking
trips. Most of which we have covered for you on this website.
Some British Columbia Campgrounds can only
be reached by backpacking, kayak, canoe, plane or boat while
others are located right off of a highway right. Depending
on the size of the Campground and/or RV
Park some enjoy onsite convenience stores and shuttle
services.
Most parks charge
a fee and it does vary per park and region. There are, however,
recreation campsites with no services that are free and
provide beautiful scenery in many cases but you should be
self sufficiant and you MUST clean up. Most recreation campsites
are found along backcountry gravel roads and the majority
of them are operated by the forestry industry.
It is recommended
to make reservations at all Provincial and National Park
Campgrounds through BC Parks, especially through peak season
from April - October.
