Dive British Columbia!

British Columbia attracts scuba divers from around the world eager to explore the west coat of BC. One of the top rated dive sites in the world! The popularity of coming to the west coast of BC for scuba diving is catching on in a big way.

Dive Charters take groups to explore some of the best underwater scenery in the world today. It is said, by Jacques Yves Cousteau, that BC, Canada is the second best place to ocean dive globally.

Scuba Diving in BC is experienced on the west coast along the shoreline and coastlines of Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Discovery Islands exploring in and around the islets with marine life every where and many decommissioned sunken ships off the B.C. coastlines making for great dive destinations.

All the contact information for each snorkel and scuba tour company is posted under the community sections posted on each regional website. Links are provided at the TOP of this PAGE connecting you to each regional website. So pick a region. Pick a community and start researching.

Scuba Diving is a year round activity in British Columbia. The visibility underwater in the summer months averages 45 ft. in the south to 65 ft. on the north of Vancouver Island. In the summer months the ocean water is more active therefore stirred up thus reducing visibility plus it is also the season of algae blooms which will also decrease visibility.

British Columbia temperatures reach 6 Celsius in winter to 17 Celsius in summer, so it is necessary to wear protective scuba gear at all times. Winter is considered the best time to dive on the west coast when visibility is at it's best.

British Columbia's west coast is a diving playground because of the abundance of reefs, the thousands of islands and the many decommissioned sunken ship wrecks. The "Cape Breton" - in its hey day was the largest - it is a 120 metre decommissioned navel vessel scuttled in 2001 near Snake Island off the coast of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. There it sits, nestled quietly on the Pacific Ocean floor close to the "Saskatchewan", a 110 metre navy ship scuttled in 1997. There are over 5 decommissioned dive sites on the west coast - and growing.

The marine wildlife is spectacular in B.C. with plenty of ocean eye candy to observe like octopus, rockfish, eels, sea cucumbers, salmon, six gill sharks and so much more. Rodale’s Scuba Diving Magazine gives BC the thumbs up as one of the best dive destinations in the world!
