A Hostel or Backpackers Inn is one of the most economical ways of traveling and exploring British Columbia, Canada. It is also one of the best ways to meet people from around the world.

In many of the bigger communities there are a few hostels to pick from but ... in some areas there is no Hostel operating. So research well!

The expenses when staying at a Hostel or Backpacker Inn are economical because of the shared sleeping quarters. In most Hostel accommodations the rooms are filled with bunk beds and single beds therefore they are able to sleep up to 6-8 people. Some hostels provide private rooms for a higher price.

Some of the more extensive British Columbia Hostels might include a pool, hot tub, library, games room, sauna, weight room, internet, etc.

There are eco retreat Hostels which specialize in an eco activity like mountain biking, skiing and backpacking. Some operate tours, as well as, an accommodation.

Many of the British Columbia Hostels tend to be privately owned and operated with the owners living on-site. Not to say there are no Hostel companies operated by managers... because there are and in the bigger communities that is usually the case.

The selection of BC Hostels is very tight in many areas and it is very wise to make reservations at all Hostels before visiting BC in any season, especially peak season from April – October and on all long weekends.
