"Sasquatch"
|
Bigfoot...
a bipedal hominoid also referred to as a Sasquatch
is an ape-like creature rumored to be wandering the forests
in BC, Canada and yet, no one person, is sure if the creature
is a myth, a folklore or a rare intelligent being hiding
from civilization in the British Columbia backcountry? Bigfoot
is said to be a tall hairy man-like creature that walks
upright with a slight slouch, has prominent shoulders, and
a flat face. A 500+ pound creature reaching 7-8 feet tall
has been rumored to roam the West Coast of BC living off
of leaves, fish, shellfish, waterfowl, deer and small mammals.
The long shaggy hair color can vary from black, brown, reddish
brown. |

MYTH or FACT? |
| "Ogopogo"
|
The
history of the Ogopogo, also referred
to N'ha·a·itk, dates back
to the First Nation Salish people. Early First Nation
petroglyphs show the the earliest evidence of the existence
of the "Great-beast-in-the-lake". To this day,
it is rumored to be living in an Okanagan Valley lake.
Reported to be 50-80 feet long and is shaped like a snake
or serpent. Supposedly the Ogopogo lives so deep in the
fresh water lakes that it knows all the hiding spots and
has eluded scuba divers, sonar and common sense for centuries.
There have been pictures of the elusive giant, but whether
real or not is yet to be decided.

"Igloos"
|
Canadians
love for Hockey, outdoor rinks, snowboarding, snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, etc ... maybe paints a picture that we candians
live in Igloos. Or maybe, Hollywood likes to paint that
picture... but do not be fooled. This is Beautiful BC, where
golf and ski on the same day is possible. Igloos.. not here.
We have charismatic homes on stilts, resorts that float,
hotels on sandy beaches and all come with amenities and
electricity. We have electricity, spas, roads, telphones
and running water... believe it or not... sorry, no igloos. |

| MYTH
|
| "Always
Rains? "
|
NO, it does not always rain.It does rain,
but mostly in the early spring and late fall seasons and
it comes in waves and is unpredictable. Rain is what makes
the BC landscape all green and fresh. Historically we
record levels of rainfall far less than the cities Seattle,
Washington in the USA. Areas like the Gulf Islands and
southeastern Vancouver Island enjoy some of the most sunshine
in BC. Part of the Okanagan Valley reach temperatures
in the high 30's Celsius (90 F) in the summer and is part
of the Sonora Desert. Need we say more.
