| British Columbia, Canada
gardens are located throughout the province. During the spring,
summer and fall seasons in BC are the best time to view our BC gardens and nature
conservatories. Each year, gardens adjust to the seasons, focusing on different flowers, shrubs and trees creating an eden with as many vivid reds, yellows, oranges, blues, purples
and whites as possible.
There are community garden parks with pathways, playgrounds, picnic tables and statues. There are Chinese, Ukrainian and Japanese gardens with proverbs, statues and architecture. There are alpine garden meadows left in nature's care with rows of wildflowers lighting up valleys. There are commercial garden attractions with restaurants, event buildings, walking paths, picnic areas, fountains, sitting benches, seed shops and more.
There are many different types of gardens to explore. There are wilderness gardens, desert
gardens, manicured gardens, rock gardens, heritage gardens, hobby gardens, community gardens and/or specialty gardens. Many groups and associations
maintain the gardens on their own time operating as non profits.
Gardens thrive in our province due to the quality
soil and mild temperatures. The environment enables many gardens to remain open year
round. Some of the more high visibility gardens in British Columbia include the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, Botanical Gardens in Tofino, Milner Gardens in Qualicum Beach and the Minter Gardens just outside of Vancouver.
During the seasons there are some gardens which hold holiday events, art shows, light shows, business functions,
exhibits, weddings and provide guided tours. However, most of the gardens in BC, Canada are self guided.
Although some of the BC gardens
are open year round, it is in the spring and summer seasons which attract the biggest crowds. It is at this time flowers dominate the landscape. Flowers like daffodils,
tulips and cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, Garry
Oaks and Arbutus Trees.
It is always wise to check the hours of operation
for any garden you plan on visiting.
