Downhill skiing and resorts in British Columbia
British Columbia, Canada is a top destination in North America for downhill skiing. Almost every skier living in the province of BC in November, will wait and watch the massive mountain ranges in the distance because they know, during the winter, that sooner or later the mountains will become entrenched in powder snow.
Some mountains are too high and too far, and can only be admired from a distance... while other snow covered alpine destinations have backcountry roads leading up to beautiful BC downhill ski resorts and nordic trails.
No wonder the British Columbia mountains are home to so many Canadian Olympic skiers. It helps that half of B.C.'s land mass is above sea level and three quarters is mountainous.
The British Columbia ski hills are mainly designed for all levels of skiers to enjoy. Double Diamond and Single Diamond Black ski runs with big drops and plenty of opportunity for speed and air time are for expert skiers.
Blue ski runs are mainly designed for the intermediate skier and Green runs are designed for beginners with gradual ski slopes and room to wipe out with extra room for a safe recovery.
Most of the British Columbia downhill ski resorts have many amenities onsite like restaurants, pubs, retail shops, grocery, ski rental shops, coffee house and accommodations. Plan accordingly as accommodations on the individual ski mountains do vary. Some ski resorts are not far from a main community and the drive is not half bad... at the foot of these ski hills there are plenty of different style of accommodations to select from.
