Snow Boarding
British Columbia, Canada EH!

British Columbia Canada mountains are a wicked retreat for snowboarders. The hardest part is waiting! Come November every year, the boards are waxed, gear is checked and eyes are all on the hill... waiting... waiting... for the first flakes to fall blanketing the alpine mountain peaks in layers of powder snow.

British Columbia snowboardingThroughout BC, Canada there are many established resorts and retreats who cater to the ski and snowboard crowds. Being that half of B.C.'s land mass is above sea level and three quarters is mountainous it only makes sense that snow board enthusiast flock to BC in the winter and spring seasons to hit the rails and get some air.

The presence of the Rocky Mountains.. and others like the Columbia, Selkirk, Monashee, Cassiar, Skeena, Coastal, Omineca, Cariboo and Purcell mountain ranges creates an abundance of high alpine peaks and terrains that are ideal drop sites for heli-boarding... yes you got it, helicopters dropping boarders onto peaks of untouched, virgin powder snow for a ride of a lifetime.

The British Columbia snow board hills are mainly designed for all skill sets of boarders with some snow hills expanding their facilities to include snow board parks with rails, lifts and jumps.

At the other end of the spectrum are the "Blue" and "Green" ski runs designed for beginners with gradual slopes, small moguls and plenty of room to learn the cuts and urns of snow boarding. The lodges and resorts on the snow mountains offer equipment rental and lessons, which all new comers to the sport should take... so you can spend more time boarding and less time sprawled out in a knot.

Out in the open trail with the skiers, snow boarders enjoy the same variety of ski runs like the "Double Black Diamond" ski runs with drop points and the forest runs, slicing through powder, avoiding trees are some of the runs mainly explored and enjoyed by expert boarders.

Plan accordingly as mountain resort accommodations are limited. Good news is, that at the base of many of the mountains, in the communities there are plenty of accommodations to select from. Go boarding in Bceh!
