The vast parklands and valleys cut off by massive mountain ranges
provides some of the best outback snowmobiling
regions available to explore while visiting Canada during
the winter months. Some parks are designated snowmobile recreational
areas visited regularly by snow enthusiasts.
The mid mountain slopes, the mountain bike and
hiking trails, the decommissioned and active logging roads leading
up and down the mountains in BC, circling around lakes and over
frozen rivers... all transform into top notch, virgin snowmobiling
backcountry routes in the winter.
Once these trails are blanketed in snow
they become the highways and byways for snowmobile
groups exploring further up into the higher elevations. Often,
when driving the major highways that connect the communities together
there are snowmobile trucks and trailers parked
on the side of the roads unloading.
The snowmobile community is made
up of many local hobbyist and some professional tour operators.
The snowmobile tour operators are set up on various
levels offering different services, tours and amenities.
Some of the snowmobile operators
offer day tours and overnight tours with cottage style or lodge
accommodations. These tours are accompanied by a guide and cross
hundreds of miles of BC wilderness landscape providing meals and
entettainment along the way.
The majority of the snowmobile
operators are located in the remote mountain areas of BC
close to the wilderness trails and alpine peaks. Some operate
booking booths in the nearby commuities.
Plan accordingly as accommodations vary with each
snowmobile operator. Some providing the thrill
but no accommodations while others include accommodations. The
nearby communities, have a great selection of accommodations.
Always contact operators first for the details when snowmobiling
in Bceh!
